State initiative for the development of scientific and economic excellence

LOEWE is the excellence program of the state of Hesse for the promotion of top-level research. TU Darmstadt is home to a LOEWE research center and several LOEWE research clusters. Researchers at TU Darmstadt are also involved in research clusters or have been awarded LOEWE top professorships, LOEWE start-up professorships and LOEWE transfer professorships.

The LOEWE program aims to support the differentiation and profile development of scientific institutions in Hesse and to increase their national and international competitiveness through better networking and targeted strengthening of existing research priorities.

In addition, the innovative strength of the scientific institutions is to be used for the development of the Hessian economy. LOEWE funding is designed as initial funding, with the help of which the scientific institutions in Hessen are to acquire more third-party funding and successfully participate in larger national and international collaborative projects.
